Quality Assurance & Internal Verification

Last updated 27 Jul 2026

WinSYS City Campus operates a documented quality-assurance framework covering the design, delivery, assessment and certification of every programme. This page explains how that framework works, so learners, parents, awarding bodies, universities and employers can see the systems behind our awards.

1. Purpose

Our quality-assurance arrangements exist to make sure that every learner is taught, assessed and certificated fairly and consistently, that assessment decisions are reliable and evidence-based, and that our provision meets the published requirements of the awarding organisations whose qualifications we deliver.

2. Internal Quality Assurance (IQA)

Assessment decisions made by lecturers are subject to internal quality assurance before certification. Internal verification includes:

  • Planning โ€” a sampling plan covering assessors, learners, units and assessment methods across the life of each cohort.
  • Assignment brief checking โ€” briefs are verified as fit for purpose against the qualification specification before they are issued to learners.
  • Sampling of assessed work โ€” assessed evidence is sampled across grade boundaries, including borderline and referred decisions.
  • Feedback to assessors โ€” verification outcomes are recorded and returned to assessors, with actions tracked to completion.
  • Standardisation โ€” assessors meet to compare judgements against the same evidence so that standards are applied consistently.

3. External quality assurance

Programmes leading to an external award are additionally subject to the awarding organisation's own quality-assurance arrangements, which may include external quality assurer visits, remote sampling of learner evidence, centre reviews and approval conditions. WinSYS City Campus provides the access, records and evidence required for these activities.

4. Records and retention

Assessment records, internal verification records, learner evidence and certification claims are retained in line with awarding-organisation requirements and our own data-retention policy. Records are held securely and released only to those entitled to see them.

5. Certification controls

A certificate is issued only when the learner has completed the required assessment, all internal verification is complete, and any conditions attached to the programme have been satisfied. Certificate eligibility is checked systematically rather than assumed, and issue is authorised by a designated senior member of staff.

6. Continuous improvement

Learner feedback, assessment outcomes, verification findings, external reports and complaints are reviewed periodically, and actions arising are recorded and monitored. This page is reviewed at least annually.
